Compositadour, the R&D platform for composite materials and additive manufacturing, is expanding its technology park
Compositadour expands its technological park with two new pieces of equipment.
The recent acquisition of the Hitachi TM4000Plus II scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the SYNTAX 300 universal testing machine has enhanced the technological platforms' capabilities for analysing and testing composite materials and parts produced by additive manufacturing.
Hitachi TM4000Plus II : Advanced microscopic analysis
The Hitachi TM4000Plus II benchtop SEM is designed to provide detailed observation of samples, with an accelerating voltage of up to 20 kV. Its powerful software incorporates the ‘Multi Zigzag’ function, enabling automatic acquisition of large multiple fields. Thanks to its patented UVD detector, active in low-pressure mode, it is the only benchtop SEM capable of producing secondary electron images on insulating samples without the need for prior metallization. This feature is particularly advantageous for the analysis of composite materials, which are often non-conductive, making it easier to observe their microstructure without complex preparation.
Tangible benefits :
- Time savings : Reduction in preparation stages and faster analysis.
- Accuracy : Detailed observation of surfaces and detection of microscopic defects.
- Reliability of results : Better control of material properties for better-performing products.
SYNTAX 300: Versatility in mechanical testing
The SYNTAX 300 universal testing machine is designed to perform various types of mechanical tests, including tensile, compression and bending tests, with a capacity of up to 300 kN. Featuring a high-rigidity structure and two preloaded ballscrews, it ensures high test accuracy. Its hybrid transmission system, combining a zero-backlash gearbox and a reinforced belt, guarantees optimum force transmission. This versatility makes it possible to characterise a wide range of composite materials and parts produced by additive manufacturing, ensuring their compliance with current standards. ( ISO 7500 )
Concrete benefits :
- Performance optimisation : Validation of tensile, compressive and flexural strengths for more reliable products.ptimisation des performances
- Customised testing : adapting tests to the specific characteristics of materials and industrial requirements.
An asset for research and development
The integration of this equipment enables Compositadour to offer a complete approach to its partners, combining advanced microscopic analysis with rigorous mechanical validation.
These acquisitions will make it possible to:
- Accelerate their R&D thanks to fast, accurate analyses.
- Optimise their costs by avoiding long and costly tests in the industrial phase.
- Access cutting-edge technologies without heavy in-house investment. (Ideal for start-ups and innovative SMEs).
